Okay, this is the not so pretty site.... but I think it is very interesting... although last weekend I didn't think it was interesting either. This is our man made septic tank that was under our back porch... which is now just pieces of board scattered around in a semi-organized manner in the back yard. Last Sunday we woke up to the sewer not working- Not so fun with 5 children and leaving for church at 8:45am. (yes, we were still on time) It was the second time in 3 months... problem. Well, through phone calls and faxes and such we discovered that the septic was right next to the house under the very large with lots of screws back porch. And, then it was discovered that no mortal man could lift the cover- it is a very solid concrete slab- so a back hoe was brought in to unearth and uncover. We think the problem is no longer a problem... but due to the age of the tank (40's probably) we have to leave it unearthed for 4 weeks... yeah- just in time for stake conference visitors for those who are counting the weeks with me! In the meantime, we are praying that it truly functions well still.... but, we now have some architectural decisions... do we just put the porch back the way it was or..... what? If we have to have this thing pumped out every 3 years or so.... how do we leave the center of our porch- backhoe and sewer ready? Ugh.
